This is the tough, woody seed pod of the Land Lotus (Aka The Bastard Poon Tree, LOL), Sterculia foetida. A quick sinking, decorative item for Vivariums and Aquariums. Native to South East asia and also Ghana, Hawaii, Mozambique and Togo.  The fruit ripens after 11 months! That's some time!
