Catappa Leaves serve a huge role in the keepijng and breeding of Softwater fishes in the aquarium. These are dried leaves of the Ketapang or Indian Almond Tree. As the leaves break down in an aquarium, they release Tannin Acids, helping to increase acidity (Reduce pH) of the water. Not only does this act as an antibacterial agent, but it can help softwater fishes such as Tetras, Betta and Dwarf Cichlids to display better finnage, patterns and colours etc.

For the Biotope Style Keeper, Catappa Leaves are a vital part of the look, especially for a South East Asina Blackwater scape!
